Pokémon Platinum improvements will be incorporated in the remakes. One of the most popular and requested one of these features is The Battle Frontier.

The Battle Frontier was introduced in Pokémon Emerald, and in many fans' eyes, is still one of the best features in the series. The Battle Frontier provided a unique and legitimate post-game challenge that isn't always common for Pokémon. The seven different battle facilities that made up the area not only provided unique spins on the Pokémon battles players are so used to, but also made them extremely challenging, with the Frontier Brains providing the most difficult battles in the game. The Battle Frontier was brought back in Pokémon Heart Gold & Soul Silver, as well as Pokémon Platinum, but hasn't been seen since. Its appearance in Platinum has fans hopeful they might finally see it again in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, but unfortunately it seems most likely that wont be the case. A closer look at what has been shown of the games so far, as well as the Pokémon series' history of remakes, strongly suggests that there will be no Battle Frontier in the  titles.

The reveal trailer for the  Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl games seems to almost go out of its way to temper expectations. The term "faithful remake" was prominently displayed on screen, and the emphasis on being faithful to the originals has continuously popped up since then, including being listed on the games' official website. If the remakes were to be entirely faithful to the original Diamond & Pearl, then of course they wouldn't feature The Battle Frontier. There's heavy speculation that the remakes will draw from Pokémon Platinum in some regards, and that makes sense considering the originals had some notable flaws that Platinum addressed, such as a massive lack of fire Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex.

The Battle Frontier Likely Won't Be In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

However, incorporating Platinum's smaller quality of life fixes is different than adding the full-on new content that Platinum brought to the table. The developers could easily leave The Battle Frontier on the cutting room floor and say they wanted to stay true to the original games, and if their heavy-handed emphasis on these being faithful remakes isn't enough to seriously doubt The Battle Frontier's inclusion, there is actually a direct parallel in Pokémon history to draw from as well.

Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire were the last true remakes in the Pokémon series, and should serve as a cautionary tale for anyone hoping to see the Battle Frontier again this November. Similar to Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl's apparent approach, they remade the original games of Gen. 3 while also taking certain aspects of the Gen's refined version, Pokémon Emerald. As noted earlier, Emerald was the first Pokémon game to introduce The Battle Frontier, but when Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire released it was nowhere to be found, instead replaced with the lackluster Battle Maison. The Pokémon Company not incorporating The Battle Frontier in any new game in the last twelve years already shows how little interest they have in the feature, but to not bring it back in the remakes of Gen. 3, the Gen that many people associate the feature with, seems to all but confirm it wont be back in the Gen. 4 remakes either.

There is still a lot players don't know about Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl at the moment, so it's possible that a surprise Battle Frontier inclusion is one of them. Ultimately though, there seems to be too many signs pointing to The Battle Frontier remaining dormant for another generation of Pokémon games.
