face off against Giovanni himself. While players could initially complete a new Special Research every month to encounter Giovanni, the ongoing pandemic has led to inconsistent releases, with December being the last time players were able to search for him.
Pokémon GO developer Niantic began unveiling the details of the game’s new Season of Legends earlier this week including the announcement of the new Pokémon that will begin appearing in raids, new Pokémon showing up in the wild, and more. The studio also announced the details of the new Season 7 Battle League that will begin at the start of March, including new rewards for reaching certain ranks as well as the new guaranteed encounter system that will give trainers the opportunity to catch certain Pokémon depending on their current rank.
Team GO Rocket Special Research a bit early though as it becomes available a day early on February 28, 2021. Giovanni will once again fight with a new set of shadow Pokémon and this season he’ll be using a different Shadow Legendary Pokémon each month, including Shadow Articuno, Shadow Zapdos, and Shadow Moltres.
Some of the other events that players can look forward to in March were also announced in the blog post, including a new Research Breakthrough encounter that will be available throughout the entire month. The featured Legendary and Mega-Evolved Pokémon that will appear in five-star and Mega raids were also unveiled, which will include Forme Landorus, Forme Tornadus, Forme Thundurus, Mega Blastoise, and Mega Houndoom, among a few others.
The return of Giovanni and Team GO Rocket is already making the first month of the new Season of Legends pretty exciting for trainers who have been waiting for their return since last year. And with all the other events that are planned to begin in March, Pokémon GO trainers have a lot to look forward to when the new season begins next week.
