first Community Day of the new year highlights Machop, who will appear more frequently in the wild and offer players unique abilities when evolved. The Community Day begins on January 16th and runs from 11 AM to 5 PM local time. In a move that is typical of past Community Day events, players will have the chance to find a shiny version of Machop while exploring. A green variant of the Superpower Pokémon will be available to players who can find it. In a similar vein, participating players will also receive various boosts and bonuses simply for showing up. Players can get three times the normal amount of Stardust for catching monsters and incense will endure for three hours.

Pokémon Go has several other events planned for the rest of the month as well, including research events, Mega-evolutions and Slowpokes. Each event has been carefully planned to still go ahead despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, making the popular mobile game accessible to players from the comfort of their homes.

According to the Pokémon GO Twitter, players will have the opportunity to learn a special move during the event called Payback. Players will receive this ability if they evolve Machoke during the actual event or up to two hours after the Community Day has ended. Players who are in the mood to spend some money only have to pay $1 to access the Community Day exclusive Special Research Story, which is titled Straight to the Top, Machop! Participating in this additional story unlocks extra encounters with Machop. Players who have earned at least 1280 PokeCoins can also purchase the Machop Community Day Box. This one-time transaction includes an Elite Charged TM, four Incense, four Star Pieces, and 30 Ultra Balls.

It looks as if Pokémon Go is trying its best to offer players every reason to be a part of the Community Day. All of the content being featured through Community Day – coupled with the wide range of events planned for the rest of the month – puts the free-to-play mobile game in good stead heading into February. February represents an exciting month for fans as well, with players having the chance to feature as an NPC in the Kanto Tour event. It is an exciting opportunity for fans who have followed Pokémon since childhood.

Pokémon Go has adapted to the difficulties posed by the pandemic by creating innovative events that engage players but ensure their safety as well. The good news is that there is plenty of content to keep them busy as the vast majority of players continue to remain at home.
