If this Special Research isn't appearing, the trainer will need to clear out any remaining Team Rocket-related Special Research they already have. This is the most recent up-to-date story content for Team Rocket, so trainers will need to catch up. The most recent Team Rocket event was the 'a Seven-Colored Shadow', where trainers were able to capture a Shadow Ho-oh. Defeating Giovanni this time will give trainers the chance to capture a Shadow Latias. He's fairly difficult, so it's important to bring along the best Pokémon to counter him.
Pokémon Go is available now on iOS and Android.
