Starting on Tuesday, June 21, 6-7 pm local time, Spinarak will be the spotlight for Pokémon Go players. Spotlight hour happens every Tuesday from 6-7 pm and features one Pokémon. During Spotlight Hour, players can find the chosen Pokémon more frequently, and the chance of catching a Shiny Pokémon also increases. Participating in Spotlight Hour will help players get more Spinarak candy so they can evolve Spinarak into Ariados.
In addition to finding Spinarak more frequently during Pokémon Go's Spotlight Hour, players will get a special bonus of 2x Evolution experience. This bonus changes every week; previously, Pokémon Go's Spotlight Hour offered double stardust. Double Evolution during this week's Spotlight Hour will be especially helpful to players who want to earn lots of XP; every time a player evolves a Pokémon during tonight's Spotlight Hour will earn twice the amount of XP for evolutions.
Spinarak is a Bug/Poison Pokémon who first appeared in the second generation of Pokémon Games. Bug-type Pokémon are strong against grass, poison, and psychic-type Pokémon, but weak against fire, fighting, flying, and ghost-type Pokémon. Poison-type Pokémon are strong against grass, bug, and fairy Pokémon, but weak against poison, ground, rock, and ghost-type Pokémon. Poison Pokémon are not affected by Steel-type Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

After this week, with Spinarak as the Spotlight, there will be one more Spotlight Pokémon: Pikachu in a TCG Hat, with a double Catch Stardust bonus.
