As dataminers dig deeper into the Pokémon HOME, more and more disappointing news is brought to light - including the possibility of Shiny and Legendary Pokémon costing more to transfer than normal Pokémon. While players were at first excited for the compatibility update, the feature has become increasingly disappointing as each new piece of information surfaces.
In a previous leak, it was revealed that players would have to use an item called the Pokémon Transporter to transfer Pokémon from GO to HOME. The Transporter consumes energy when a transfer is made, and players can either wait for it to recharge on its own or purchase energy using Pokécoins. While Pokémon GO does give players the option, the cooldown time for the Transporter could last hours or even days. This essentially forces players to grind or purchase Pokécoins if they wish to transfer their Pokémon in a reasonable amount of time.
Now, an in-depth analysis of the update has revealed that Legendary and Shiny Pokémon could cost more energy to transfer than normal Pokémon. This information comes from a dedicated group of Pokémon dataminers named Pokémon HOME integration with Pokémon GO. While it was known that transferring Pokémon would cost energy, this data mine revealed that each Pokémon will cost a certain amount of energy with rarer Pokémon costing more to transfer than the average monster.
How much each transfer will cost has yet to be determined, but trainers should expect transferring all of their Pokémon from GO to HOME to take a few hours if not a few days. It is also important to note that not all Pokémon will be transferable. Shadow Pokémon, Mega Evolutions, and Pokémon defending gyms cannot be transferred to HOME. Players may also need to be a certain level before they are able to utilize the transfer function.
It is still cool that players will finally be able to transfer their beloved Pokémon GO pals to Pokémon: Sword & Shield, but the disappointments that The Pokémon Company continues to deliver feel like a product of greed. Players already have to pay a subscription fee if they wish to store an excess amount of Pokémon in Pokémon HOME, and now they are being forced to pay for quicker transfers. They are also being penalized if they have put in the effort to catch Legendaries or Shinies. Knowing Pokémon, players will have to bear these inconveniences no matter how greedy they may be.
