Summary
- Pokémon Scarlet and Violet initially lacked full compatibility with Pokémon HOME, limiting the transfer of certain Pokémon.
- The 3.0.0 update added over 100 previously unobtainable Pokémon, but many beloved species were still excluded.
- The Scarlet and Violet DLCs added more Pokémon, but few could be transferred through HOME that couldn't be caught in-game.
Pokémon HOME at launch, which would have provided a way to transport Pokémon to and from the Paldea region. In May 2023, a large update to HOME added the Scarlet and Violet compatibility, although the functionality was a bit disappointing in its limitations. While the change did add the ability to transfer over 100 Pokémon that were previously unobtainable in the games, many Pokémon didn't seem to make the cut. Many notable and disappointing exceptions include Legendary, Mythical, and regional-form Pokémon that cannot yet be transferred from HOME to Scarlet and Violet.
After the Pokémon HOME update 3.0.0 in May 2023, players were hopeful that many of the Pokémon who were not in the Paldea region could be transferred into the game through the HOME system. The update to the virtual storage system did allow for over 100 Pokémon to transfer, but it left many, many more that were excluded. This left fans waiting for the Scarlet and Violet DLCs – The Indigo Disk – that were reported to come with more updates to add further HOME compatibility, and while there were many missing Pokémon added to the game through the DLCs, very few extras were made transferable that weren't already catchable when playing the DLC.

Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero DLCs Added Some Pokémon
No Future Updates Announced Currently
There were many Pokémon from previous generations that were added to the new regions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's two DLCs, collectively known as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, which were released in the Fall and Winter of 2023. These new entries into the games were then added to Pokémon HOME, but otherwise, there were very few of the pocket monsters made to be transferable through Pokémon HOME that couldn't be caught in the game. Each of these DLC releases came alongside updates to HOME which added in the new Pokédex for each DLC, but very little else.
While fans of previous games from the series may be disappointed by the diminutive list of Pokémon added to Scarlet and Violet from their favorite regions, it is undoubtedly impressive that Scarlet and Violet can now be experienced with as much of the National Pokédex as it does have. Out of a total of over 1,000 Pokémon, there are less than 300 that are unable to be brought into the games currently. Although no future updates have been announced, it is still possible that Pokémon HOME may yet add the ability to bring the rest of the Pokédex into Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
