The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. No matter how far removed into the past Hisui has been made out to be, it clearly has its own technology.

The mainline Pokémon games use settings that reflect the time they were released in, with some futuristic tech thrown in specifically for the handling of Pokémon. In Pokémon Red and Blue, Red carried a paper map with him, and the only high-tech device he used was the Pokédex. As the series went on, the protagonists gained better gear, which reflected common technology in the real world. Pokémon Gold and Silver gave the protagonist a mobile phone, while Pokémon Diamond and Pearl had a Poketch, which was a smartwatch that had its own helpful apps.

The world of Pokémon has been invaded by cellphones, to the point where the character uses a Pokémon phone at all times, in the form of the Rotom Phone. Pokémon Legends: Arceus could have escaped this, as the Pokédex in the game is a drawing pad, and the Poké Balls are powered by steam. This won't be the case, as the character will be sporting at least one high-tech device in the ancient times of the Pokémon world.

Arceus Is The Creator Of Pokémon & Smart Devices

Pokemon Legends Arceus Arc Phone

The official Sheikah Slate used in Breath of the Wild, with the player able to see the names of regions, the location of collectible items, and even their current position. It's likely that the player will be able to use it to set checkpoints, in order to more swiftly reach their destination.

The Sheikah Slate was originally meant to be a stand-in for the Wii U GamePad, which is why it was included in the game. The Arc Phone seems like an item made for player convenience, rather than something that 100% gels with the lore. It's unclear why an Arceus-brand phone exists in the Hisui region, but Arceus' role in the story is still unclear, and it's possible the Mythical Pokémon has a higher purpose for granting such an amazing gift to a human.
