Since its announcement during the February 2024 Pokémon Presents event, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has been one of the series' most anticipated releases. Now, one of the hosts of the Pokémon analyzing Hidden Power Podcast, dustygogoat, has taken to X with a potential leak that could provide some information surrounding Pokémon Legends: Z-A's starters, along with new forms and evolutions. According to these claims, Snivy, Torchic, and Totodile are the three starters, and they will each have regional forms and mega-evolutions.

Of course, while many enjoy Hidden Power Podcast's speculation and analysis, with the original leak being shared stemming from a 4chan post, it should likely be taken with a huge pinch of salt. While occasionally, there is an accurate leak on 4chan, it should be noted that there have also been plenty of inaccurate ones that stem from the wish fulfillment or sharing theories found elsewhere and stating them as fact.

While plenty of comments on dustygogoat's post mentioned how fun things shared in the leaks, such as a Fire Fairy Blaziken, could be, most were extremely skeptical, and for pretty good reasons. The most notable comments were surrounding the starters themselves, with RaphaelSVW and others pointing out that it's unlikely Game Freak would use another Gen 2 and 5 starter for a Legends title after using the Gen 2 Pokémon Cyndaquil and Gen 5 Pokémon Oshawott from the previous Pokémon Legends: Arceus game alongside the Gen 7 Rowlet.

PokeRangerJack commented that Torchic seems unlikely as a starter as they already have a gimmick of evolving into a Mega Blazikenn, so it seems more likely that Game Freak would choose a Pokémon that didn't if it was planning to introduce new mega evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Meanwhile, Rathalos168259 pointed out that there is no actual screenshot to back up these claims, further suggesting that they may not be accurate.

Time will tell whether these leaks turn out to be accurate or if the suspicions are valid. With various release dates being speculated within Pokémon Legends: Z-A's 2025 release window, hopefully, it won't be too much longer until Game Freak and Nintendo provide some new, official insight into the game and what its starters may be, even if it comes shortly after the first look at what Nintendo's next console is if the company is looking to have it as a launch title.
