The Pokémon Legends: Z-A will follow in Legends: Arceus' footsteps, this time offering players a glimpse into another time period for the Kalos region. While Legends: Arceus was set in the broader Sinnoh region, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be specifically set within Luminose City, giving players a much better look at the grand, Paris-inspired city. Naturally, fan-favorite Pokémon are bound to reappear with impressive redesigns to match the time period, but also the ancestors or descendants of notable characters.
Of course, many are unsure Arceus had lots of ancestor characters, which set the precedent for future Legends games to do the same, such as how Commander Kamado is the ancestor of Professor Rowan or how Cyllene is the ancestor of Team Galactic's leader, Cyrus. While it remains to be seen exactly who will appear, there are plenty of great options.
10 Dexio & Sina, The Professor's Assistans
The Heroes Of Kalos
Dexio and Sina are the assistants to Professor Sycamore in Pokémon X and Y, who assist the player in a number of ways throughout the game. The two have since appeared in Pokémon Sun and Moon, where they served as handy exposition characters who offered advice on various gameplay mechanics, like mega evolutions. It wouldn't be surprising to see ancestors or descendants of the duo pop up in Legends: Z-A having carried on the legacy, or indeed started it, of being assistants to the Kalos region Pokémon professor.
Of course, Dexio and Sina are also the dynamic masked heroes who tend to pop up after the player has beaten the bad guys. Seeing their hero personas carry on, much like another character in Pokémon X & Y, would be fun for fans and would give them insight into how these masked personas started or continued. However, even if they don't appear in Legends: Z-A, they could turn up in DLC, thus fixing one of Legends: Arceus' biggest mistakes.
9 Alexa & Viola, The Other Dueo From Pokémon X & Y
Sisters In Crime In Kalos
Much like the other duo, Sina and Dexio, in Pokémon X & Y, it would make perfect sense to see descendants or ancestors of the sisters Alexa and Viola in Legends: Z-A. Alexa is the resident journalist in Luminose City, and the redevelopment plans and whatever nefarious deeds are happening in the background of that would make for the perfect breakout story for a budding child or ancestor of hers. The player could assist them in covering the goings-on or have them just pop up in the background as a nosy investigative journalist.
Similarly, Viola is the Gym Leader of the Santalune Gym in Pokémon X & Y, and it would be great to see how her legacy carries on. Her descendant or ancestor could, much like her, enjoy photography and accompany the budding journalist in their capers to uncover the truth behind the redevelopment of Luminose City. It's not hard to see how their ancestors or descendants would fit easily into Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with there being plenty of story potential.
8 Trevor, The Pokédex Expert
Pokédex Expert's Relatives Could Appear
Trevor is the budding Pokédex expert who is constantly challenging the player to see who has logged the most entries in their Pokedexes. If Pokémon Legends: Z-A is to have a similar character, then it would make sense that it would be someone to who Trevor ed down his love for discovering new Pokémon to or had ed that ion down to him. It would be a fun nod to the Pokemon X & Y games, as well as an interesting way to incorporate Pokémon Legend: Arceus' focus on filling the Pokédex into Z-A.

15 Strongest Pokémon From The Hoenn Region
Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald gave the Pokémon world many new powerful creatures. Some of these rise above the rest and are still meta-relevant now.
There will almost certainly be ancestors or descendants of all the player's main group of friends in Pokemon X & Y, as they play a big role in their adventure. However, Trevor feels like the one who would be the easiest to incorporate, especially thanks to his overall love of Pokedexes. If Legends: Z-A does put as much emphasis on the Pokedex as Arceus did, then it's almost guaranteed that some form of Trevor's family will pop up.
7 Xerosic From Team Flare
The Evil Scientist
Xerosic is the truly terrible and nefarious scientist who works on experimental projects for Team Flare in Pokémon X & Y. He's the one responsible for turning Emma into Essentia and getting her to inadvertently commit crimes by remotely controlling her suit. He's a bad guy and one of the worst when it comes to Team Flare's group of scientists, which is why an ancestor or descendant of his is surely going to turn up in some capacity in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
It's also certainly possible that someone who was inspired by his work might show up, rather than a direct descendant, and assume his identity. Of course, this would only work if Pokémon Legends: Z-A was set in the future.
Much like how Legends: Arceus made the ancestors of the villainous characters good and vice versa, Legends: Z-A could make Xerosic's ancestor or descendant a good person who wants to aid in the redevelopment of Luminose City. It's also very likely that a family relation of Xerosic would continue his love of experimental science and create something similar to the Expansion Suit. Regardless, it would not be surprising to see an ancestor or descendant of Xerosic appear, if only briefly, in Legends: Z-A.
6 Clemont's Relative May Appear In Legends: Z-A
Luminose City Gym Leader
It feels almost guaranteed that fans will see some form of descendant or ancestor of Clemont in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. He is the Luminose City Gym Leader and a quirky inventor, who sets up his future family, or his past family, to be a big part of Luminose City's redevelopment. Whether it's his children inventing new tools to help with the construction of Luminose City, or his great-grandparents being pivotal in the overall design, it's easy to see how they'd slot into the story.
5 Emma From X & Y's Postgame
Owner Of The Looker Bureau
Emma is a more prominent character in Pokemon X and Y's post-game content, where players interact with the secret international detective, Looker. Her story is directly intertwined with both Looker and Xerosic, as she is tricked into doing Xerosic's doing, which Looker is subsequently investigating. She gets taken in by Looker, who wants to do his best to protect her, and by the end of their questline, hands her the keys to the Looker Bureau and lets her do what she wants with it.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Starters May Have Been Teased By The TCG
An eagle-eyed Pokémon fan may have spotted the planned starters for the Pokémon Z-A in a holiday booster pack of Pokémon cards.
Emma also takes on the role of Essentia, which was initially Xerosic's creation but that she adopts once he gives her all the technology before being taken to prison. Seeing what happens to both Essentia and the Looker Bureau building in the future would be a lot of fun for fans who invested in the post-game content of Pokémon X & Y. Of course, this would only really work if Pokémon Legends: Z-A was set in the future, and not the Kalos region's past.
4 Olympia Is One Of The More Memorable Characters
The Psychic Gym Leader
Olympia is the psychic Gym Leader of Anistar Gym in Pokémon X & Y, but most importantly, is constantly talking about the future. It is referenced in Pokémon X & Y that Olympia can see into the future of whoever touches her wrist, and in the anime, she helps Ash and his friends by predicting the future and preventing Team Rocket from completing their dastardly plans. A game set in Kalos' future would feel incomplete without the descendants of the woman who can literally predict the future.
It could even be that Olympia shows the player the future of Luminose City, and that vision is the story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It would be an interesting approach to the game's story, and would allow her, or her descendants to feature heavily in the game. However, much like Emma, this wouldn't work as well if Legends: Z-A is set in the past, although her ancestors could easily feature with similar powers.
3 Diantha's Ancestors & Descendants Just Make Sense
The Kalos Region Champion
Dianthia is one of a few characters in Pokémon X and Y who are pretty much guaranteed to have their ancestor or descendant appear in Legends: Z-A, as she is the Kalos region Champion during the events of X and Y. It would be a fun twist to have her descendant struggle with living up to her reputation, or have her ancestor come from nothing to show where her drive came from. There are plenty of story directions Legends: Z-A could go into incorporate Dianthia
She is also a famous movie star in Pokémon X & Y, and that angle could also be explored in Legends: Z-A. For example, her children could all grow up to be spoiled brats who have a hand in the redevelopment of Luminose City, such as by helping it. Suffice it to say, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will almost certainly include some form of reference to Dianthia as she's just too magnificent to leave out.
2 Professor Sycamore From Pokémon X & Y
The Kalos Region's Pokémon Professor
Considering how Pokémon Legends: Arceus had Commander Kamado be the ancestor of Professor Rowan from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, there will almost certainly be a descendant or ancestor of Professor Sycamore in Legends: Z-A. However, it's not clear whether Legends: Z-A will go in the same direction as Arceus by having Sycamore's ancestor or descendant be one of the villains. It's a fun twist, although it would be unlikely that Game Freak would pull the same trick twice.
Alternatively, Professor Sycamore's descendant or ancestor could be a Pokémon professor in training who needs help from the player to learn more about them. They could be friends with the ancestors or descendants of Dexio and Sina, to tie it back to Pokemon X and Y. Of course, much like how Professor Sycamore basically has to appear, there are a plethora of Pokémon that have to be in Legends: Z-A in order to not only appease fans, but also to help showcase how the Kalos region Pokémon have evolved too.
1 Lysandre, The X & Y Antagonist
The Leader Of Team Flare
One of the best aspects of Pokémon Legends: Arceus was getting to see Cyrus', the malicious leader of Team Galactic, ancestor, Cyllene. There is a very good chance that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will pull the same move with Lysandre, showing players how his descendants evolved after his attempts at bringing about his beautiful world or how his ancestors shared his beliefs and handed them down. There are plenty of roads that Legends: Z-A could go down when it comes to fleshing out Lysandre even more through his family.
No matter how his descendants or ancestors are incorporated into Pokémon Legends: Z-A, they'll help flesh out one of Pokémon's greatest villains. While it's not guaranteed that fans will see his family in Legends: Z-A, it's very likely, especially if it follows a similar trend to Arceus. Nevertheless, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be much better off for including at least a small cameo that references Lysandre.
