The next saga of Pokemon Horizons has officially been confirmed, and it’s airing sooner than one might think. On the eve of the finale of the “Rayquaza Rising” saga, it was announced that Horizons would enter a new saga, Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage, which will not only follow an unspecified timeskip, but will bring Mega Evolutions back into focus, likely to tie into the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Pokemon Horizons officially getting a new saga is nothing but exciting, and there’s finally a confirmed release date. Following the penultimate episode of Rayquaza Rising, the official premiere date of Mega Voltage was announced, and now it’s known that Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage will officially premiere on April 11, 2025, with a one-hour special. Even with details still being as sparse as they are, Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage is plenty exciting, and it’s sure to be just as fun to watch as previous sagas, if not more so.

When Will Pokemon’s New Anime Air In English?

Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage's English Release Date Explained

While it’s great to have a release date for Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage, it should be noted that said release date is only for Japan. Unlike most anime nowadays, Pokemon has no official simulcast, as not only is the Japanese dub not available by legal means, but the English dub only comes out in batch releases every few months on Netflix. As such, even though Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage officially premieres in Japan on April 11, 2025, it’s unlikely to premiere at the same time in English.

As for when Mega Voltage will premiere in English, new English episodes release at about 10 at a time every two or three months on Netflix, with the second half of Terastal Debut premiering in late April following the first half’s February premiere. That means that Rayquaza Rising will be released from June to August at best, and with that schedule in mind, Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage will likely premiere in English in October 2025 at the earliest. Hopefully, an official announcement isn’t too far off, but regardless, it’s sure to be well worth the wait.

Why Pokemon’s New Anime Is So Exciting

Why Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage Will Be Big

Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage isn’t that far off, and there are plenty of reasons to be excited about it. For starters, with the saga revolving around Mega Evolutions, it, along with Pokemon Legends: Z-A, will finally bring back one of Pokemon’s most iconic game mechanics, one of which many people have lamented the removal of for almost a decade. Add in how often the anime adds a unique spin on the games with its own lore, and ’s take on Mega Evolutions will likely make them more exciting than ever.

More than that, of course, is what it means for the anime, as a whole. Getting to see more of these characters is one thing, but the Pokemon Horizons cast going through a timeskip and seemingly breaking away from the anime’s status quo is incredibly inventive as well, especially when Ash’s era was often criticized for how unwilling it was to change things around. Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage is exciting because the anime is finally willing to shake up its story, and when Pokemon Horizons: Mega Voltage finally premieres in April, it will be great to watch it play out.
