There are a plethora of fantastic Psychic-type Pokémon from the franchise. This is entirely understandable, as it is certainly a fascinating type for the series to explore often, as there is plenty of room for creative freedom. There are a total of 96 Pokémon who are this type, which makes it among the most common out there. When thinking of the best of them, it is hard not to draw attention to Alakazam, Mewtwo, and Unown, for example. But there are many spectacular ones elsewhere, too.

However, even with this being the case, it is fair to state that some just do not seem to be good fits for this type. That does not necessarily make them bad Pokémon, either. In fact, some may even be extremely effective whilst in battle, but it is just hard to see them as this Psychic, given their appearances. Although they cannot be placed elsewhere, it is hard not to imagine the possibility of it.

Starmie

Starmie from the Pokemon anime series

Starmie is a Generation I Pokémon that gamers certainly want in their arsenal. It is far superior over its pre-evolved form, Staryu, as it is more powerful with its attacks.

Interestingly, though, it for some reason is a Water/Psychic-type. The Psychic-type aspect of this Pokémon seems out of place, as its original form is not. Nonetheless, it is still a fantastic Pokémon with a cool overall design.

Meditite

Meditite from the Pokemon anime series

When looking at Meditite, it is quite easy to understand that it is a Fighting-type. Based on its stances alone, it is clear that it is also ready to engage in combat. However, it is strange that it is also a Psychic-type, too.

Although this is a Pokémon that religiously meditates through yoga, it seems to be a bit strange bestowing it this Pokémon type. It does help it in battle, though, even if it is a smaller fighter.

Wobbuffet

When it comes to the Pokémon anime series, Wobbuffet is not the brightest of the bunch. This is because it is always causing turmoil amongst Team Rocket, as it lacks basic understanding at times.

This alone hurts its case of being a Psychic-type, as it is hard to imagine that it is able to succeed this way. Also, with its distinct light blue color, it is easy to assume that it is actually a Water-type.

Natu

Natu from the Pokemon anime series

Natu offers a bit of a twist, as it is a bird Pokémon that is a Psychic-type. This certainly enhances its levels of originality, but in a way, it seems a bit out of place when looking at it.

In some cases, pre-evolved forms of Pokémon lack an extra type, while its evolved form has it. This is a situation where this would make sense, as Xatu clearly looks like a Psychic-type, while Natu looks like a basic bird.

Lugia

Lugia is one of the most popular Pokémon from the entire series. Yet, there is a debate to be had that it is the wrong Pokémon type. Although it does work well as a Psychic-type, it is hard not to wonder how it is not a Water-type.

It inhabits the sea, while also being the rival Pokémon of Ho-Oh, who is a Fire-type. These reasons make some gamers question its classification. Also, it is white and blue in color, which is a common palette with Water-types.

Victini

Victini from the Pokemon anime series

Generation V has one of the cutest looking Pokémon from the franchise with Victini. That makes it easy to like it, but what also is cool is its backstory. It is the "Victory Pokémon," so it does very well in battle.

With its orange ears, it makes sense that it is a Fire-type. However, it is a Psychic-type, too, which is a bit of a weird placement. With its wings and adorable demeanor, it seems as though it actually would work better as a Fairy-type.

Woobat

Woobat from the Pokemon anime series

Woobat is a strange Pokémon, as it is a bat that seems to also have a bunch of fur. This prohibits others from being able to see its eyes, which definitely is a nice touch.

When looking at it, it is easy to assume that it is purely a Flying-type, but that is not the case. In fact, it is actually a Psychic-type, which seems entirely out of place. It is so reminiscent of Zubat and the other bat Pokémon that it is strange for it to have an extra set of powers.

Slowpoke

Slowpoke is a lovable Pokémon from Generation I, as it is just so silly when it comes to its personality and appearance. Yet, this is also what makes it hard to accept that it is a Psychic-type.

With a creation as peculiar as this one, it makes sense that the franchise has it have two types. However, it would have been more interesting if it paired its Water-type with something that is more fitting with the way it looks and acts.

Delphox

Delphox looks on disapprovingly from the Pokemon anime series.

Delphox is quite the majestic being, as it possesses a lot of fur that forms into a robe. It also holds a stick that is on fire that seems to resemble a wand. Thus, it seems as though that it would have worked better as a Fairy-type.

When seeing as how it is full of red and orange colors, it certainly is understandable that it is a Fire-type, too. However, given its regal nature and the way it presents itself, the Fairy-type classification seems a bit more fitting.

Spoink

Spoink from the Pokemon anime series

Spoink is a fun Pokémon to watch, as it is a small and grey pig that bounces on its curly tail. It also possesses the color pink, which means it follows that pattern of being a Fairy-type.

However, it actually is a Psychic-type, even though it just does not seem to mesh well with it. This is a fair point to make, as it does not resemble most Psychic-types. However, it is still a cool Pokémon at the end of the day, even if it is not among the strongest.
