A new Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion trailer confirmed additional old Pokémon returning to the games, including Kangaskhan, Tauros, and Mienshao. These are part of the more than 200 Pokémon coming back for Sword and Shield's expansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra.

Along with these returning Pokémon are several entirely new creatures coming to Sword and Shield. These include a new, rabbit-like mythical Pokémon and the evolution-branching Kubfu. The new trailer also revealed in-game versions of Gigantamax Blastoise and Venusaur, as well as the brand new Galarian Slowbro.
