A new era of Celestial Guardians, a new main set featuring Pokémon from the Pokémon Sun and Moon era of the game. While there are no new card gimmicks in the new set, there are plenty of powerful and must-have new cards in the brand new set.

One of the most significant additions in the new set is Rare Candy, a new Item card that allows for quicker evolution of Stage 2 Pokémon. This card helps bring many of the Stage 2 Pokémon in the set into greater prominence, as there will now be easier ways to get them into play. While Rare Candy tops our list, there are plenty of other powerful Pokémon cards you'll want to add to your Pokémon TCG Pocket collection.

10 Poison Barb Is A Multi-Faceted Card

Celestial Guardians - Lunala (146/155)

Poison Barb is probably the most versatile Tool card in Celestial Guardians, thanks to its ability to provide Pokémon with the ability to dish out a Special Condition automatically. When a Pokémon with Poison Barb is damaged by an attack from an opponent's Pokémon, the Attacking Pokémon is now Poisoned. Considering that Poison deals 10 damage during every Checkup Phase, this is a very useful card that makes players think twice before dealing chip damage to an Active Pokémon.

While Poison Barb isn't quite as powerful as Rocky Helmet, it still provides a secondary level of protection to Active Pokémon. The card is also useful setting up the Poisoned condition for cards like Nidoking and other Venoshock-using Pokémon to take advantage of.

9 Tapu Lele Makes A Splash In Basic

Celestial Guardians - Lunala (84/155)

Tapu Lele is a powerful Basic Pokémon card with an ability that directly takes aim at cards trying to charge up energy on the bench. The Pokémon's Energy Arrow card deals 20 damage to one Pokémon for each Energy card attached to it. This means that Tapu Lele can deal 80 damage to a Giratina ex about to switch in or a whopping 100 damage to Charizard ex when it's fully charged.

Tapu Lele is also a one-hit KO to most fully charged Celebi ex cards, especially those using Serperior's ability to double its Energy count. Expect to see Tapu Lele make appearances in many Psychic-type decks.

8 Guzma Is A Great Equalizer

Celestial Guardians - Lunala (151/155)

While Rocky Helmet and Poison Barb provide excellent Pokémon Tool to many decks, Guzma serves as a way to clear out any help that a Tool might provide. When Guzma is played, all Pokémon Tools attached to any of an opponent's Pokémon card is removed from the game. This is a fantastic way to clear out Rocky Helmet walls or Giant Cape holders who need the tool to survive an extra round of combat. Guzma could see a lot of play in decks, especially as Pokémon Tools become a lot more common in the game.

7 Crabominable Ex Is An Aggro Master

Celestial Guardians - Solgaleo (49/155)

The powerful Crabominable is an excellent aggro Pokémon card. This Stage 1 Pokémon deals 40 damage for just one Water Energy on its first time, followed by 80 damage on every subsequent turn. Dealing 80 points of consistent damage per turn for just one energy is fantastic, especially if players can get the Pokémon in play early in the game.

Think of Crabominable ex as the Water-type equivalent to Exeggutor ex. It deals 80 damage for just one energy, and is a Stage 1 Pokémon. The difference is that Crabominable ex deals out more damage consistently, which is why it will likely see play in many decks.

6 Lillie Is A Solid Healer

Celestial Guardians - Solgaleo (155/155)

Another powerful new Trainer card, Lillie provides some legs to any Stage 2 Pokémon deck. Lillie heals 60 damage from a single Stage 2 Pokémon when played, which is typically the difference between sticking around an extra round or getting knocked out against all but the strongest of Pokémon.

This underrated Grass-type deck built around Beedrill ex and Meowscarada delivers huge damage and consistency in Pokémon TCG Pocket battles.

Lillie also has three card variants, each of which depicts her with her parasol and her signature Poké Ball bag. Lillie notoriously tried to keep Nebbie, a Cosmog that eventually evolved into a Legendary Pokémon, in the bag to keep it safe from harm throughout much of the Pokémon Sun and Moon storyline.

5 Oricorio Mixes Things Up With Safeguard

Celestial Guardians - Solgaleo (66/155)

Oricorio looks like an assuming Pokémon, but it singlehandedly has the ability to disrupt the Pokémon TCG Pocket metagame. The Pokémon's Safeguard ability prevents it from taking any damage from a Pokémon ex's attacks. Oricorio's Safeguard ability is especially potent against decks that only use Basic Pokémon ex cards, such as the fearsome Giratina ex/Darkrai ex deck.

Oricorio isn't invulnerable - most decks have at least one non-Pokémon ex card that they can use to wipe the card from play. However, Oricorio's presence should keep players from getting too cheesy with their decks.

4 Decidueye Ex Is One To Watch

Celestial Guardians - Lunala (12/155)

Decidueye ex is a pure sniper card that can wipe out injured Pokémon no matter where they sit. The Pokémon's Pierce The Pain attack deals a whopping 100 damage to a Pokémon that already has damage on it. This is a potent card that can target injured Pokmon, especially when they are switched out and supposedly safe from damage.

This lowkey might be one of the strongest Pokémon cards in the set, especially as it can be used with cards like Articuno ex or other cards that deal damage to Benched Pokémon. The only downside is that it's a Stage 2 Pokémon, although that can be easily rectified thanks to the new Rare Candy card.

3 Solgaleo Ex Is A Strong Steel-Type

Celestial Guardians - Solgaleo (122/155)

Solgaleo ex might be the strongest Steel-type Pokémon in Pokémon TCG Pocket. While most Steel-type Pokémon require a dearth of energy to use their powerful attacks, Solgaleo ex requires only two energy to use its Sol Breaker attack. Sol Breaker deals a whopping 120 damage, albeit with Solgaleo taking 10 damage itself, which is an incredibly impressive low energy attack.

Like several other Pokémon on this list, Solgaleo ex's main weakness is that its a Stage 2 Pokémon. With the addition of Rare Candy to the game, being a Stage 2 Pokémon isn't as much of a problem. Even without Rare Candy, this card can still deal out plenty of damage and slot into a Dialga ex deck without issue.

2 Lunala Ex Can Move Energy

Celestial Guardians - Lunala (87/155)

Lunala ex is another powerful Psychic-type Pokémon that manipulates energy from one Pokémon to another. The Pokémon's Psychic Connect ability allows players to move energy from one Psychic-type Pokémon to the Active Pokémon, providing ways to instantly supercharge a Pokémon for attack.

Lunala ex syncs up well with Gardevoir, which places an extra energy per turn, or Giratina ex. The Pokémon can also help a player pivot quickly from one Pokémon to another, which can be especially useful given the new options that are epecially useful against Psychic-type decks.

1 Rare Candy Is A Huge Meta Shift

Celestial Guardians - Solgaleo and Lunala (144/155)

Rare Candy provides one of the biggest shifts in the metagame, to the point where it could double the amount of viable dominant decks in the metagame. Rare Candy allows a player to skip over a Stage 1 Pokémon and directly evolve a Basic Pokémon into a Stage 2 Pokémon. Not only does this potentially shorten the number of turns needed to push a Pokémon in play, it also makes Stage 2 Pokémon decks much more consistent by adding a pair of cards that can be used to get those Pokémon into play.

From older cards like Charizard ex to cards that appear on this list like Decidueye ex or Solgaleo ex, there are countless decks that can use Rare Candy's ability to its fullest. Expect to see this card see a ton of play as Celestial Guardians kicks off.
