The newCelestial Guardians set that will dominate Pokémon TCG Pocket for the next few months.

Celestial Guardians will focus on Pokémon first seen in Pokémon Sun and Moon. The new set will contain over 200 cards and will feature Solgaleo and Lunala as the booster pack mascots. Although no new gimmicks or card types were revealed for this set, it's confirmed that the set will feature the first-ever Immersive Art Trainer card, featuring Lillie, one of the protagonists from Pokémon Sun and Moon.

When Celestial Guardians Set Releases In Pokémon TCG Pocket

Set Releases On April 30th

Pokémon TCG Pocket has a much shorter release announcement window than the physical Pokémon TCG. While physical Pokémon TCG sets are announced months in advance to allow retailers and fans to pre-order products, no such window is needed for the digital game. Thus, we typically get a release announcement just a few days before a set's official release.

Celestial Guardians will officially release on April 30th, 2025. Based on previous set releases, the app will receive an update on the previous day (April 29th), with the new cards going live at approximately 2 AM ET on April 30th. Players can start opening card packs, either from the Celestial Guardians - Solgaleo or the Celestial Guardians - Lunala set, as soon as it goes live. Keep in mind that Pokémon TCG Pocket has not said that it'll be pulling any other sets from the card app, so older sets will still be available from the main menu as well.

Confirmed Cards For Pokémon TCGP's Celestial Guardians Set

Confirmed Cards Include Solgaleo Ex, Alolan Raichu Ex, and Lunala Ex

So far, only a few cards from the set have been confirmed. We know that the set will feature Pokémon from the Alola region, which should include both the 88 new Pokémon that first appeared in Pokémon Sun and Moon, as well as the 18 Alolan regional forms. Here are the confirmed cards that will appear in the set.

Pokémon:

  • Rowlet (two versions)
  • Litten (two versions)
  • Popplio (two versions)
  • Solgaleo ex
  • Lunala ex
  • Oricorio (two forms)
  • Alolan Meowth
  • Alolan Raichu ex
  • Alolan Vulpix
  • Alolan Marowak

er:

  • Lillie
  • Ilima
  • Kiawe
  • Lana
  • Acerola
  • Mallow
  • Sophocles

Item:

  • Rare Candy
  • Rotom Dex

Additionally, the following cards have been confirmed to get alternate art treatments:

  • Lillie (Immersive Art)
  • Alolan Marowak (Illustration Rare)
  • Alolan Raichu ex (Special Illustration Rare)

The most notable of the newly revealed cards is the Rare Candy item card, which should radically shift the metagame. Rare Candy allows players to "skip" an evolutionary step, making it possible to directly evolve a Basic Pokémon into a Stage 2 Pokémon. This should make deck builds reliant on Stage 2 Pokémon a lot more viable, as players can use item cards to quickly evolve a Pokémon into their final form.

Right now, we know that the set will contain approximately 200 cards, split between two booster sets. However, we don't know how many secret rare cards will be included in the set, nor do we know how many new Pokémon ex cards will appear in the new set. The launch of Celestial Guardians will kick off with a new set of accessories, featuring Rowlet, which will officially become available on May 1st.

In addition to the launch of Celestial Guardians, Pokémon TCG Pocket also announced a new Solo Drop event focused on the new Rayquaza ex card. This will feature solo battles to obtain new promo cards. Other special missions will also be available, with a different Rayquaza ex promo card available as a reward, as well as various new accessories and other rewards. These missions will launch on April 29th at 11 PM PDT and run through May 28th at 11 PM PDT.
