One of the new ex cards that came with the latest Pokémon TCG Pocket set, Mythical Island, is Gyarados ex. Gyarados ex is one of the new cards that players should be looking forward to pulling in their packs, as it is another strong Water-type card with great potential in the game. Alongside other cards that already exist from the previous set, Genetic Apex, players can create a powerful deck with the new Water-type ex card.
Due to this new addition, you may want to utilize this ex card in a Water-type deck. Water-type decks are a popular type to battle with, as TCG Pocket provides useful and often overpowered cards associated with that type. Other decks in the Water-type category, like Starmie ex decks and Articuno ex decks, have proven to be powerhouses within the game's battles. Building a Gyarados ex deck is something you should consider when collecting cards from Mythical Island.

Best Strategy To Win WIth a Gyarados Deck
Gyarados Ex Deals Damage And Slows Down Your Opponent
You want to set up by having Gyarados in the active spot and Greninjas on the bench. Using your ing cards like Poké Ball and Professor's Research will get your Magicarp and Froakies ready. Gyarados ex is your main source of damage, while Greninja can deal extra damage thanks to its Water Shuriken ability. Once Gyarados is in your active spot, use Misty for the chance of loading it up with the Water Energy it needs to start dealing damage. Use Water Shuriken according to the HP of all opposing Pokémon, as it can reach the bench.
If at any point you need to swap out your Gyarados ex out of the active spot, using Leaf will allow you to retreat more easily. It lowers your Retreat Cost by 2, and Gyarados ex requires three without this.
Gyardos ex's Rampaging Whirlpool does 140 damage to your opponent and slows them down by removing a random energy card from all Pokemon on the playing field. Keep this in mind when planning your turns, as this will also affect you every time you use the move. The advantage you will get can outweigh the debuff you are also giving yourself, so prepare by continuing to keep Gyarados stocked by applying the free Energy to it every turn. Evolve a second Gyarados on your bench to prepare for the chance your active one gets knocked out.
