The biggest stall in Druddigon has been a staple in many Pokémon TCG Pocket decks. The Pokémon's Rough Skin ability deals 20 damage per turn, dealing chip damage to any attacking Pokémon and softening them up when a stronger Pokémon can take the field. However, a new Pokémon card appears to have outclassed Druddigon in most scenarios, which could lead to it disappearing almost entirely from Pokémon TCG Pocket's metagame.
A new card from the Celestial Guardians set, Pyukumuku, appears to be a better version of Druddigon in most decks. As detailed by TheGamer, Pyukumuku's Innards Out ability deals 50 damage to an opponent Pokémon when it's Knocked Out, which is an upgrade from the 20 damage Druddigon deals every turn when attacked. While Druddigon has the higher HP, Pyukumuku deals more damage per game, provided that Druddigon only takes a maximum of two attacks per turn. While Pyukumuku might seem weaker, the Pokémon's explosive ability could quickly move it into a useful role in the Pokémon TCG Pocket metagame.
Will Druddigon Still Be Viable In Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Unfortunately, Pyukumuku Outclasses Druddigon In Almost Every Aspect
Druddigon has always had some major setbacks that Pyukumuku seems to negate. Druddigon was almost worthless as an attacker, as it required three Energy (and two different energy types) to use its main attack. While it has high HP, it requires two Energy to retreat, which typically meant that Druddigon would either stay in play until it was KOed or pulled using a Leaf er card.

Pyukumuku's low HP is countered by its more versatile attack options. Pyukumuku only requires one Water Energy to use its Sprinkle Water attack, which further deals chip damage to opposing Pokémon. It can also retreat with only one Energy cost, meaning that players can more easily swap it out without significantly tapping into Energy resources or leaving it out as a free point. Its only downside is that there are a lot of Pokémon that can knock out Pyukumuku with one hit, meaning that Rocky Helmet might not be as useful a Pokémon Tool compared to its usage on Druddigon.
Our Take: All Hail The Pyukumuku King
Another Unexpected Pokemon Reigns Supreme In Pokémon TCG Pocket
At the end of the day, any deck that uses Druddigon should seriously consider upgrading to Pyukumuku. Under almost all circumstances, Pyukumuku's damage output outpaces Druddigon, which makes it a much stronger option. Although players will likely have to sacrifice a point to use Pyukumuku, its higher amount of damage more than makes up for the disadvantage. Druddigon can still shine in select circumstances, but expect Pyukumuku to see a lot more play in Pokémon TCG Pocket decks moving forward, especially in Water decks.
