Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Poker Face season 2, episode 4!Poker Face season 2, episode 4 saw Hoffmann star as Fran LaMont, a police officer who grows jealous of another cop, Gator Joe (Kumail Nanjiani), who keeps winning Cop of the Year at the FlopaCopa awards ceremony. She accidentally kills him putting reptile laxative in his energy drink, setting up his alligator, Daisy, as having eaten him. While Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) discovered the truth and Fran confessed, she wasn't punished, later quitting and working at a gator sanctuary.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Hoffmann said she wasn't entirely sure what her character's future looks like after the events of Poker Face season 2, episode 4. However, she does believe Fran would be happy with her new life, possibly learning more about herself and her purpose in the process. Check out what Hoffmann had to say about the end of the episode below:

Oh, my god, wow. Are there actors who think about what their characters are going to do going forward after only playing them for five days? I'm not one of them. [Chuckles] What would I have thought if I were one of those actors? Hopefully, she would discover some new side of herself, and her life would open up in ways that she never could have imagined, and in the end, she's grateful for having had to resign from the force. There's so much uncertainty in the world, and I like to think that most of the time, it can bring unexpected gifts to us. So, I would wish that for Fran, as I would for anyone else.

What Hoffmann's Statement Means For Fran In Poker Face

She Managed To Get Away With Her Crime

Of all the characters in Poker Face, Fran is the first one to completely get away with her crime despite confessing. However, her circumstances were also quite different, having accidentally killed Gator Joe despite only meaning to embarrass him. While things got out of hand due to her jealousy and use of Daisy to cover up the crime, her later actions emphasize how she might be trying to make amends for what she did. This makes her work at the gator sanctuary an appropriate fate, and one that opens her future to new possibilities.

Based on Hoffmann's statement, it sounds like Fran could find a new beginning with her work at the sanctuary, putting what she did to Gator Joe behind her. While future episodes of Poker Face season 2 are unlikely to revisit what she ultimately does, the actor seems hopeful about her next chapter. The episode did end with a humorous reveal that the gator sanctuary has its own awards, though, given how chaotic FlopaCopa became, it seems unlikely the former police officer will be participating.

Our Take On Poker Face Season 2, Episode 4's Surprising Ending

Can Fran Keep Herself From Any More Awards Ceremonies?

Since it was her decision to resign from her role as a police officer, Fran clearly wants to make a change in her life that keeps anything like Gator Joe's death from happening again. While the show makes a point to poke fun at the possibility of a similar cycle, Hoffmann's sentiment indicates a positive future for her that doesn't involve awards ceremonies. As Poker Face continues, perhaps other murder suspects will have their own unique fates instead of just getting arrested or dying.

New episodes of Poker Face arrive Thursdays on Peacock.
