Developer MOB Games recently began a Project: Playtime - Everything We Know About Poppy Playtime's Co-Op Game
The Poppy Playtime ARG Is Just Getting Started
The live-action video discovered by Sheeprampage features a Playtime Co. employee who claims that the iconic toy Huggy Wuggy was found staring at children within the toy factory. This unsettling video adds to the already creepy Poppy Playtime story and lore by hinting at the slow downfall and eventual abandonment of the Playtime Co. factory. Unfortunately the two GIF files discovered by Sheeprampage are still locked with additional s, and the IP address contains many more files that are also currently inaccessible. The ARG has led fans to a goldmine of potential Poppy Playtime lore, but this exciting discovery seems to be just the beginning of MOB Games' nefarious alternate reality game.
While ARG experiences can be an immersive way to bring a game's community together, they can also lead to disaster if creators and fans aren't careful. For example, one Five Nights at Freddy's ARG got out of hand earlier this year when lore hunters began harassing the population of a small Utah town. The FNAF ARG hunt organized by MatPat led the horror franchise's fanbase to investigate the Utah town, but fans quickly began flooding local businesses with hundreds of phone calls while posting private information online. Luckily, Sheeprampage's Poppy Playtime ARG hunt has avoided stirring up similar issues.
Poppy Playtime has given fans plenty of disturbing lore to dig through, with the recent ARG presenting a fun puzzle for the community to decipher together. While the ARG has led to the discovery of a very creepy lore video, there are still many more files to unlock within the secret IP address. As rumors swirl about the future of Poppy Playtime, MOB Games seems determined to keep teasing its curious fanbase.
