In the humans into toys, though how Poppy Playtime's Playtime Co. does this exactly remains a mystery for now. Developer MOB Games is currently aiming for a vague 2023 release window for Poppy Playtime Chapter 3, so it's unknown when fans will learn if they leave or not.
The Playtime Co. toy factory first opened in the year 1930. It was founded by Elliot Ludwig, who produced many successful toys with the help of the company's head of innovation, Leithe Pierre. On the surface, it was nothing more than an ordinary toy company that made highly advanced playthings such as Poppy Playtime, which was intelligent enough to actually hold a conversation with a child. In reality, Ludwig and Pierre performed horrific experiments on unwitting human test subjects in order to turn them into the monsters players see in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 and Chapter 1. Approximately 10 years prior to the events of Chapter 1, all the employees of the factory mysteriously vanished, and it closed its doors indefinitely.
At the end of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2, the player character tries to leave the factory but is instead diverted to a different section of it by Poppy, and crashes en route. The last thing they see before falling unconscious is a sign pointing to an area called Playcare, teasing it as the setting for Chapter 3. A teaser trailer released by Poppy Playtime may end after Chapter 3 if this is the case, or at the least start a new story arc. Whether the new story would also involve leaving the factory and using a different setting, however, is harder to say, and there are pros and cons to both possibilities.
Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 - Pros & Cons Of Leaving Playtime Co. Toy Factory
One of the pros of leaving Playtime Co. in future Poppy Playtime chapters is that it can close out the factory's story. If it's used for too long, the factory can become repetitive and stale, both as a setting and a story engine. Leaving and using a new location can make the games refreshing and more fun than if the player character stays continuously trapped within Playtime Co. Players may also get to see more of the world and the company's effect on it, as well as dark secrets and new monsters Poppy Playtime wouldn't have introduced otherwise.
Some of the cons of leaving the factory are the risk of reducing future Poppy Playtime chapters' scares. The monsters may be the main focus of the series' horror, but the ambiance and creepy environments that the factory provides play a part as well. While there are plenty of other creepy and disturbing locales the series could use, none may be so fitting for monstrous toys as the factory they were created in, or be as good in general. Poppy Playtime also has deep hidden lore that can be found in almost every nook and cranny of Playtime Co., and a different setting may not be able to deliver it as effectively.
It's a safe guess that players will eventually leave Playtime Co. at some point in Poppy Playtime, even if it doesn't come until the end of the series. The only other possibilities seem to be Poppy Playtime's player character becoming a toy or dying, and neither sounds like a satisfying ending for the protagonist. Based on how close to the source of the monster toys the series is getting, it seems like the ending of Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 - perhaps Chapter 4 depending on what lies within Playcare - will see the player character finally escape, and any further entries would shift to a new location.
