Since making the jump from TV to comic books, the Power Rangers’ lore has deepened exponentially, including the creation of the Emissaries Three. The Emissaries Three are god-like beings who exist inside the Morphin Grid and are responsible for its protection. While the cosmic beings seem like immortal gods with their high power levels and seemingly eternal existence, they have proven to be just as susceptible to a mortal fate as the human Rangers imbued with the power they are sworn to protect.

The Emissaries Three were introduced in the BOOM! Studios comic series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers by Ryan Parrott, Walter Baiamonte, and Daniele Ienuso. Fans learned that the entities are the protectors of the Morphin Grid, responsible for the powers bestowed upon the Power Rangers throughout history. The beings do not seem to have a standard form or gender as they each take on the appearance of the Red, Blue, and Yellow Power Rangers suits respectively, with their physical bodies an amalgam of the many suits of each color.

The Emissaries Three have been shown to be silent protectors of the Morphin Grid who do not interfere in the matters of a specific Power Rangers team unless they deem it absolutely necessary. In one instance during the events of “Shattered Grid,” Zordon asks the Emissaries for help in defeating the villainous Lord Drakkon as the tyrant’s existence universe. The Emissaries Three reject Zordon’s plea for help and pay the price for their neutrality. Lord Drakkon is able to breach the Morphin Grid and steal the source of its power, the Heart of the Morphin Master, an event that risks leading to the end of the entire Power Rangers multiverse. After restoring the Morphin Grid to its proper function, the Emissaries Three make efforts to avoid a similar situation from ever happening again, though the damage from the event is already done and leads to the downfall of the Emissaries Three forever.

After the nearly detrimental situation with Lord Drakkon, the Red and Yellow Emissaries maintain that the Three should not interfere in mortal matters, though the Blue Emissary learns from the attack and rebels against his fellow Emissaries. The Blue Emissary creates the Omega Rangers, an elite group of Rangers who are tasked with assessing threats in anyone who has access to the Morphin Grid. The creation of this team leads to the Blue Emissary’s demise as one of those bestowed with the power, Kiya, goes insane in thinking that everyone with access to the Morphin Grid is a threat and has to die, including the Blue Emissary.

After the death of the Blue Emissary, the Red Emissary is also killed by an unidentified assailant while the cosmic being is searching for Lord Drakkon to ensure he never launches an attack against the Morphin Grid again. As it stands, the Yellow Emissary is the only one remaining, staying true to their original mission in not interfering in the lives of mortals and staying alive to fulfill their eternal task. Little is known about the birth of the Emissaries Three as they seem to be ageless and omnipresent in the lives of every Power Ranger in existence. However, seeing that they can die tells fans that they are not the all-powerful beings they seemed to be, as now there is only one member of the Emissaries Three left in existence to watch over the Power Rangers multiverse and guard the energy that powers their select warriors.
