Power Rangers in Space gave Bulk and Skull their coolest moment in the franchise, which also happened to be one of the most iconic Power Rangers entrances in history. The final entry in the Zordon Era, In Space was a direct sequel to Turbo and saw the Power Rangers of Earth set control to outer space following the destruction of the Command Center. While the 1998 season was primarily set off-planet, Power Rangers in Space would sometimes go back to Earth, namely Angel Grove.
As a result, a couple of ing characters from the Mighty Morphin-Turbo era continued to appear on the show, including Bulk and Skull. Although their presence in the series was now much smaller compared to their weekly appearances in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Countdown to Destruction,” the finale of Power Rangers in Space, during which Astronema invaded Angel Grove.
Bulk And Skull Announced Themselves As Power Rangers In “Countdown To Destruction”
Bulk And Skull Were Brave Enough To Stand Up Against Astronema
When Astronema arrived on Earth with her army, the Princess of Evil only wanted one thing – to find the Power Rangers. Astronema, who knew that the Rangers were from Angel Grove, gave the heroes a chance to reveal themselves and surrender. However, before the real Rangers could arrive, the citizens of Angel Grove stood up against the intergalactic invader and announced themselves as being the Power Rangers Astronema was looking for. Bulk was the first to do it, claiming to be the Blue Ranger. He was followed by Skull, who said, he was the Red Ranger.

What followed was multiple civilian characters shouting their Ranger colors in one of the most cathartic scenes in Power Rangers history. Astronema was not impressed by their courage, though, and told her army to “destroy them.” Fortunately, that was exactly when the real Power Rangers arrived. The moment in which T.J., Cassie, Carlos, Ashley, and Zhane appeared on a rooftop and revealed themselves to the world was not only epic but also brought the show full circle, as Bulk and Skull finally learned the identity of the Power Rangers.
The Power Rangers Revealed Their Identity For The First Time In “Countdown To Destruction”
The Power Rangers Broke Zordon’s Rule For A Good Reason
Power Rangers in Space was the first time on the show that a Power Rangers team revealed their identities to the world. One of Zordon’s cardinal rules is that the Rangers could never expose their identities, a premise that was carried from MMPR through In Space. This is why seeing the Angel Grove Rangers – plus Zhane – morphin in the middle of a crown to protect their city from Astronema was so special.

This 22-Year-Old Power Rangers Episode Fulfilled The Dreams Of Every ‘90s Kid
One of the greatest Power Rangers episodes of all time delivered an interaction that every 1990s kid who watched the show had dreamed of seeing.
Not every Power Rangers season since then has adhered to secret identities. For example, while the Lost Galaxy Rangers tried to keep their superhero activities separate from their roles in Terra Ventura, the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers were pretty much public services whose official job description was “Power Ranger.” Most Power Rangers seasons do have secret identities, though, which only adds to the importance of what happened in Power Rangers in Space’s series finale.
