Power Rangers had an "I am your father" moment in Dino Fury season 2, which also set up the Pink Ranger as the new Red Ranger in Cosmic Fury. After the usual two-season run, Power Rangers Dino Fury is returning for season 3 in the form of Cosmic Fury. Despite the different name and the new motif, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury is expected to pick up the story right where Dino Fury season 2 left off.

The last time a Power Rangers team went from Earth to space ahead of a new Power Rangers TV show was in 1998, when the Turbo Rangers became the Space Rangers. Similar to the transition between Turbo and Space, Cosmic Fury will feature new Power Rangers suits, fresh Zords, and updated weapons. Also similar to Turbo and Space, Cosmic Fury will shake things up with a new Ranger form and a new Red Ranger.

How Dino Fury’s Amelia Reveal Sets Up Power Rangers’ New Red Ranger

Cosmic Fury's Gold Ranger Aiyon and Red Ranger Amelia; Void Knight in Power Rangers Dino Fury season 2

Amelia, current Dino Fury Pink Ranger, will become Power Rangers’ new Red Ranger in Cosmic Fury. While how and why the Power Rangers’ suits and Zords change in Cosmic Fury is difficult to say, Amelia’s importance to the cosmic side of Power Rangers Dino Fury was set up in season 2 with the reveal that Void Knight and Void Queen were Amelia’s parents. In a Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker scenario, the Pink Power Ranger learned that Void Knight, the villain the Power Rangers had been fighting since Dino Fury season 1, was actually her father. Void Knight, also like Vader, became evil trying to save his wife from death.

Up until the reveal that Amelia’s parents were Void Knight and Void Queen, and that Amelia was therefore a Rafkonian, there was not much of a link between the Pink Ranger and Power Rangers Dino Fury’s cosmic storylines. For most of Dino Fury, Red Ranger Zayto and Gold Ranger Aiyon were the only aliens in the team. Zayto and Aiyon’s stories were directly connected to the destruction of Rafkon and the return of 1990s Power Rangers villain Lord Zedd, which made them natural leaders for the Rangers’ cosmic missions. Future Red Ranger Amelia being an alien means her becoming the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger makes more sense.

Will Amelia's Parents Return In Power Rangers Cosmic Fury?

Power Rangers Dino Fury's Santaura Void Queen, Amelia, and Tarrick Void Knight

The reveal that Amelia’s parents were Tarrick and Santaura, the latter of which faced the Rangers in Dino Fury’s final battle as Void Queen, earned its place among the biggest Power Rangers plot twists. Dino Fury’s Amelia reveal can even be compared to what happened in Power Rangers in Space, in which Red Ranger Andros and Princess of Evil Astronema were revealed to be brother and sister midway through the show. Fortunately, like what happened to Astronema in Power Rangers in Space, both of Amelia’s parents were redeemed in Dino Fury. The former Power Rangers villains will now continue living on Earth.

With the Dino Fury Rangers heading to a cosmic adventure, there may not be a reason for either Tarrick or Santaura to return in a larger capacity. That said, considering Cosmic Fury is adapting Uchu Sentai Kyuranger for the Zord and Mega Zord fights, the Power Rangers show has dozens of mechas and potential Rangers colors to adapt. With the current Power Rangers team consisting of six Rangers – red, blue, pink, green, black, and gold – Cosmic Fury could perhaps incorporate other colors from Kyuranger and bring both Tarrick and Santaura back. Tarrick, former Void Knight, does have Ranger experience after all.
