Predator Is Hunting Wolverine For His Skill AND His Adamantium Skeleton
In a preview for Predator vs Wolverine #3 (of 4) by Benjamin Percy, Greg Land, Ken Lashley, and Andrea Di Vito, this alternate motivation behind the Predator’s desire to hunt Wolverine is revealed, adding a new layer to this already exciting and highly anticipated crossover. The official description reads as follows:
TIME TO BLEED!
The most gruesome chapter yet! Years after his first encounter with the Yautja, Wolverine's gone feral – just the way the Weapon X program likes him! If the Predator thought the mutant was hard to kill before…now he'll meet the real beast. But the prize this time isn't just the kill. Now Wolverine carries something precious within him, something a Predator's never encountered. An indestructible metal that would give the hunter the edge over prey on any world…
When the Predator first fights Wolverine, the alien finds a man (mutant) with heightened senses, animalistic instincts, and organic bone claws that extend from his fists. Alone, this makes Wolverine one of the deadliest creatures the Yautja had ever hunted, especially on Earth. However, after Wolverine goes through Weapon X experimentation, he becomes something else entirely. This Wolverine is now a highly trained and seasoned killer, who’s much more of a feral beast than he was originally. Though the best part is Wolverine’s new adamantium-coated skeleton, which the Predator sees as something it can craft its own weapons with after killing Wolverine and taking his skeleton as its trophy (something Yautja are very fond of doing anyway).
While Predators don’t need any extra reasons for killing their prey, this extra push to claim victory over Wolverine may give the Predator the edge it needs to actually do the impossible and kill the virtually unkillable X-Men hero. If the Predator does pull off the win, then it will have practically unbreakable adamantium weaponry within its arsenal - perhaps even forged into a new suit of armor - making the already deadly hunter that much more unstoppable.
