Friday The 13th movies.

With each film in the Predator franchise, the star monster is always unique and as a result, the mask is designed to fit the Yautja hunter. Each one provides something new whether it's a new bit of flair to the design or a new piece of functionality; with some masks standing out more than others.

The Predator Killer - The Predator (2018)

Multiple endings for The Predator were planned, including a version where Newt from Aliens makes a surprising appearance. Sadly, the final product, which suffered heavily from studio meddling, used the worst one featuring an exosuit straight out of an Iron Man crossover.

Not only is the design silly and overblown but it simply does not fit in this franchise. It also is a massive plot hole since it's supposed to be a gift from the Fugitive Predator but yet the Fugitive was slaughtering humans left and right before its death.

Chopper - Alien Vs. Predator (2004)

If Chopper had gotten more screentime in Alien Vs. Predator, this mask could have stood out more. Instead, it's barely on screen for anyone to notice the details such as the unique visor-like eye lens and ridges across the faceplate that resemble gills.

It gives Chopper the appearance of a hunter specializing in aquatic environments as game preserves. It's far from a bad design but it simply fails to stand out from the others.

Tracker - Predators (2010)

Similar to Chopper, this Super Predator does not get much screentime but he has just enough for his mask to make an impression. Its most notable feature is the pair of tusks jutting out from the mouthguard but there is a big detail that is often overlooked.

Tracker's helmet appears to be made from skin or animal leather, whereas most Predator masks still to alloys and metallic looks. This bio-organic design for the mask fits Tracker since he does specialize in animals as shown by the alien dogs he commands and hints that he is the most at home in the game preserves.

The Crucified - Predators (2010)

This mask appeals to classic Predator fans since it is essentially a copy of the original Jungle Hunter mask; one of many reasons why is heavily debated as the best sequel. That's also why it is not the greatest mask either since it doesn't provide anything new other than being battle-damaged with one part of the Crucified's face exposed.

With that said, it is appealing to see a version of the classic Predator, as played by Derek Mears, fighting Berserker of the Super Predators. It makes for an old vs new angle to the climax and also shows that sometimes, you can't replace the classics.

Scar - Alien Vs. Predator (2004)

This mask from Alien Vs. Predator suffers from the same problem as the Crucified's where it's a rehash of the classic Predator mask. In that way, it has some appeal but it does sport one new thing and that is the marking that earns him the name of Scar.

Sometimes the simplest additions make all the difference because the marking in the Yautja language is a nice touch. Still, it's one of the more lacking masks in the franchise with Scar most being ed for the physical performance by Ian Whyte.

Fugitive - The Predator (2018)

Overall, The Predator was a disappointing experience for most fans but it did deliver on a mostly effective Yautja hunter, despite some unneeded comedy. The Fugitive sports a unique mask unlike any other seen in the franchise so far with a more shiny finish and a mouthpiece that resembles an open mouth.

Combined with the glowing eyes, this mask could have been one of the more imposing Predator masks. It even bears a minor Scream franchise. Sadly, this Yautja is quickly killed off and replaced by another Predator who has no mask.

Berserker - Predators (2010)

From the moment this leader of the Super Predators appears in Predators, his design lets the audience know that he is no joke. His black mask with a hint of blood-red stains is decorated with the sharp-toothed jaw of some other alien monster.

Combined with the dark red eye lenses, this mask gives Berserker the vibe that he has been doing this for a long time. He's not to be trifled with and this remains true throughout Predators as he displays more ferocity and is a calculated killer without an honor code.

Falconer - Predators (2010)

Rather than something drastically different like Berserker's, the Falconer's mask goes for a less-is-more approach. The makings for a classic Predator mask are here but Falconer's mask features sharper angles and fittingird-like design with more bulbous black eye lenses.

Falconer also does not get a lot of screentime to show off this mask but he does get one stand-out scene in which he fights the Yakuza member in a battle of blades. The avian appearance of the mask matches not only the name but the bird-like drone that he commands; so the mask fits his character in every way.
