What Prey's Physical Release Means For Its Streaming Future

While there's no indication Prey will be removed from its home on Hulu, streaming originals have been getting removed more often in recent months. In May, Disney removed 40 shows from Hulu and Disney+, including Hulu originals such as The Premise and The Quest, to get a $1.5 billion write-off. This has led to fears that, as streaming companies remove originals from their platforms, the shows and movies removed won't be accessible anywhere else.

Prey's physical release means it's safe from being entirely inaccessible should it be removed from Hulu. People who enjoyed Prey or want to see it for the first time now have the option of owning the movie outright in case it ever leaves streaming. It also provides plenty of bonus material surrounding the film that can't be obtained through a streaming service.

However, despite Hulu's recent purge of original content, Prey's critical reception and its status in the Predator franchise means it's unlikely to get removed from streaming anytime soon. However, it's still reliable to purchase physical or digital copies of media just in case a streaming platform removes content in the future. For now, though, it looks like Prey can be watched via its physical release or by streaming it on Hulu.
