a Princess Bride sequel or reboot over the years, although nothing concrete has been in the works. Of course, many would argue this is one movie that absolutely needs no sequel or reboot; it's perfect just the way it is.
Earlier today, the Disney+ Twitter posted a video of the main stars of The Princess Bride, Cary Elwes and Robin Wright, having a light-hearted, video chat conversation. The text "We interrupt this important video call for a special announcement" appears. This is when Cary reveals The Princess Bride will start streaming on Disney+ on May 1. The video then shows a short snippet from the original movie. The video closes with Robin and Cary joking around again.
It's been nearly 33 years since The Princess Bride first released. The two leads seem to be in good spirits during this lockdown and seem genuinely excited to be speaking to each other and announcing the movie on Disney+. The Princess Bride has served as an escape for fans for over three decades, whether during nights in at home or on long Coach bus rides during 90s field trips. It comes at a perfect time.
