See AllFrasier Season 2 Officially Ends The Original Series 20 Years After It Went Off The Air
It seems like the new series is overly focused on comedy rather than drama like the original Frasier. Comedy that sometimes feels forced. The original Frasier was far more pissed off and frustrated with something in each show, much more so than he is now. He's smiling too much. It may sound strange, but I miss seeing him deal with the every day frustrations we all can relate to with the occasional brief moments of happiness, which to me feels a bit more intrinsic to reality than the constant humor we see now. We need more serious moments. Moments where Fraiser would truly be attempting to help a caller with their problem while simultaneously humbling himself on air by applying the same advice to himself after an argument with his father as an olive branch, hoping he would be listening. Also, when Frasier is about to state something that's shows off his knowledge and vocabulary about the arts or opera, it is overly emphasized now whereas before it just rolled off his tongue as if everyone (especially Niles) knew what he was talking about. I'd like to see a more pissed off, sarcastic Frasier, obsessing over perfection that always falls a "soupçon" short of his expectations, which of course drives him nuts.
