I would say it's Carver for 2 reasons. First being at the end of the previous episode the note to Violet said "See you on the other side". Meaning more than likely he took his own life. His struggles with drinking addiction caught up to him. The other reason being Violet is crying because she wishes she could do more to help him and be more of a ive friend. I don't see any sort of story line that would indicate Pascals wife dying.
