While I aggree this will give a fresh outlook on the show, I feel it may be less iconic from a certain standpoint though that may be exactly what refreshers the show. The one issue I have with this is that they couldve kept morty as Rick's progressively more talented pet, they just shouldve tried to make morty more like in the first season to an extent as this couldve brought back that nostalgic Rick and morty vibe and having mortys progression into becoming independent in the mental sense more subtle. Don't get me wrong I still more the idea and trajectory of the show and character dynamic.
