He's an excellent actor but like my thoughts on the Galadrial actress ( she's also excellent actress ) I don't see him as Elrond.

Yes. HoHH is one, if not the best supernatural/scarry stories that I have ever come across.
Scarry as hell & cerebral... great writing ... and the music/soundtrack .. superb!
