The popularity of rey with cosplayers is more an indication that the costume designer hit it out of the park in making an iconic attractive look that works with multiple body types. It doesn't mean people are going to watch content just because Rey is in it.

Brie Larson doesn't have the acting range to pull off playing a cape. The best scenes in her movie were the ones she wasn't acting in. Heck CGI cm out performed her. She should stick to playing powerless victims like what she 'won' her awards for.

And there was me thinking their biggest risk was hiring writers for other reasons than their ability to write... because they clearly didn't have much talent in that department.

Std should be treated as poorly written high budget fanfiction, and therefore, since so much of it breaks it, not canon. So much of it feels like the creators hate trek, but they needed a job, so they lied.

They need to get some better writers first, actual sci-fi writers who actually like tos, tng, ds9 and voyager... Not these narcissistic Muppets who are trying to rewrite everything.
