It was never going to turn into a Game of Thrones - first of all the books are kind of boring (and you honestly think they'll never end) in the first place - the writing nowhere as good as Martin's (although that's subjective and bound to make the trillions of WOT fans unhappy). The acting was OK at best, the production too slick and perfect and shiny, too much BORING talking ... perfect shiny swords, immaculate hair and makeup until after a fight/battles. There was no humour at all, everybody took themselves so seriously ... each episode was a chore to get through to be honest. With Game of Thrones, EVERYBODY was on the edge of their seat waiting for the next episode, even at the end! The special effects etc. were pretty good, I'll give them that - but then it's not a big deal anymore when everyone can have amazing special effects - it had great characters with a lot of potential but it was a mess, they never developed on the middling source material and just played it too safe. We can only hope and pray that Amazon does not get their grubby giant hands on the Malazan.
