Couldn't agree more; he probably got as close to Fleming's ideal, psychologically not physically of course. His approach saved the franchise from flopping in the new world of espionage cemented by Jason Bourne, and I'm quite grateful for that grittiness leading to Timothy Dalton's films being viewed in a kinder light nowadays.
