I agree with you that all of us should be given the grace of both humanity and heroism, knowing that the two may cross and diverge equally easily. Luke's story in the last Jedi shows us that heroism both propels us and can leave us in our later years as we grow wiser and more cynical, given our greater awareness of conflicts and grim truths as we learn about the world around us.
