See AllStar Trek Fans Don't Want to it It, But One of TNG's Biggest Critiques Is 100% Correct
Well it didn't help that the writers wrote so terribly during Pulaski's 2nd season run. We never really got the chance to really appreciate her. But yes it seems pitting her against the already beloved characters was not a good move. She generally started off as arrogant and stern. I never got the 'too close to Bones' view. Even if she was, that would be an acceptable reference point. One of the highlights for me was in 'Elementary Dear Data', and her interaction with 'Daniel Davies' (Moriarty).
Babylon 5's Most Heartbreaking Story Turned A Joke Character Into One Of The Show's Best Heroes
As he was commanding the B5 station, he did carry the rank of 'Commander'. Yes, he was a 'Captain' aboard ships prior. But the rank he carried on the station was 'Commander'. It actually works that way in Star Trek too, and maybe even in real life, that I'm less familiar with. A ship has a Captain, but a station has a Commander.

These producers/writers don't really treat canon as any sort of a guide. Us fans who care are just left to pick up the canon pieces and attempt to put it together until we can't. I like how someone put it: They keep "playing the nostalgia card". But I don't think they realize that the how few fans are actually deriving actual 'nostalgia' or real enjoyment from call-backs.
I tell you something for me that really really worked as a nostalgia moment: When they got the punk rocker guy from Star Trek: IV to come back and do that scene in Star Trek: Picard season II - Kirk Thatcher. That was a real nostalgia moment!
But I don't understand just putting characters on the show, just for the sake of the names of them being TOS names.

SNW is not on the Timeline of the Pine movies. Often termed the 'Abramsverse'. SNW is on the prime-time-line.

Rick Just not much of a thing anymore. 1) Have you ever watched interviews with the actors from those good-ole days. When TNG made 26 episodes a season? They were basically slaves. Some worked 18 hours days, with no breaks. Michael Dorn had it worst with his makeup routine. 2) Cost: After the pandemic the cost of Sci-Fi shows, or TV in general has skyrocketed. Well everything just costs more, even that cup of coffee. They just can't afford to do 'filler' episodes that make up that time. 3) Think about what made up those big seasons... Some good episodes, but a lot of bad ones, especially in the 1st couple of seasons, and the 7th season (was full of gross violations) If you sit down to a show today, and it doesn't grab your attention in 2 episodes. You don't give it a second chance. Back in the day, we gave shows a chance to thrive. People just don't have that kinda attention span anymore. A Show has to be about large themes, and hit you hard. There are no filler episodes about Geordi's Mom, or how Data thinks. There is no time for that. A B5 example would be 'Gray 17 is missing'. A delightful episode... about how there was a missing floor in the plan of the ship, but that script wouldn't make it today.
I was surprised that 'The Ark' got 12 episodes for both of its 2 seasons. But I think the sets were smaller for especially the 2nd season.

This is the 'Prime Timeline'. The NuTrek producers are just terrible about representing it, and us fans are busy trying to pick up the pieces and patch the gaping holes in the Canon. I've heard that argument that this is not Prime, not sure where that comes from, but it is not true.
