This was a movie, base on real people and real events. To say it missed the mark historically, needs to be prefaced by saying that this was NOT a documentary.

The women were underdeveloped because they were not the story. They were in the movie, because they were part of the lives of the main characters.

Jurassic Park for example, is absolutely possible. Not with our current level of DNA techniques. But with advancements in extraction abilities and AI to help in sequencing, it's possible.

Overall, I'm gonna have to disagree that George figures out that Marty is/was a time-traveler, otherwise the book would have had an 'across time' type of title. However, why did it take George so long to write the book? Could it be that seeing his teenage son triggered the highschool memories? And maybe while writing it down to it all, he ended up with a rough draught of what would become his book? But figuring out it was time-travel, I don't think so.

You're forgetting the premise that until the movie unfolds, time travel has NEVER happened. Therefore, Goldie became Mayor on his own, without Marty's suggestion. Marty may have put the thought in his head earlier, but it was already Marty's reality.
