See All10 Of The Best Years In Movie History (Have You Seen How Good 1999 Was?)
You forgot about The Crow. It was supposed to come out in 1993, but Brandon Lee's tragic demise pushed it back to May 1994. Alex Proyas made a signature Gen X film--and captured lightning in a bottle while he was at it. It's still loved today and an Iconic Goth film to this day as well.
Crow II: City of Angels came out in 1996 with Vincent Perez playing the Crow this round. It wasn't a bad film, in fact, it was quite good--but it still dwells in the shadow of the first film. Unfortunately, after this, it was all downhill for the franchise. :(
10 Biggest Differences Between The Crow 2024 & The Original Movie
The OG 1994 Crow film was and remains a masterpiece. Brandon Lee's death only added to the mystique of the film. Had he lived, I wonder what would have become of the franchise. I mean, it's not without its flaws, like Shelley remains a two dimensional character throughout the original film, but the 2024 remake is the Crow in name only.
This franchise went downhill FAST. City of Angels wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good either, though Vince Perez made for some nice eye candy. The TV show was 'meh' and the later movies were blatant cash grabs that failed. I like to forget they even happened and just let the original film stand on its own. It was lightning in a bottle that is still not quite like anything else out there and probably never will be.
