See AllGeorge R. R. Martin's New Announcement Has Finally Made Me Accept He's Never Finishing The Winds Of Winter
theres also another American author with a missing 3rd installment of a trilogy. The 2nd installment was published in 2011 and the 1st in 2007... so I'd say its about 10-ish years overdue-- Thing is, he had already written all three books as one big long story, and had split them into 3 titles, editing/revising each one... He has written several short stories and some other even shorter stories in the mean time, and has also done just about any and every thing possible except finish up book 3. He even went out to hollywood one weekend and secured what should have been the most comprehensive multimedia-multiplatform adaptation deal that would have been worth billions and would have seen Feature fims, TV shows and Video Games all released simultaneously, yet every company involved has since let their options expire without a single project ever going into development. The icing on the cake was a couple years ago, he was livestreaming and a fan asked him about releasing a sample chapter to tide over the fans for a bit, and he responded by proposing a charity fundraiser thing where if a goal was met by midnight that night he would release a full chapter the next day. He intentionally set the goal ridiculously high, and it was after 10pm already when he announced it.... The goal was met in less than 10 minutes, over an hour before the deadline of midnight... You could see the blood drain from his face in the livestream as the goal was met then sured as he tried to make it an impossible to reach goal.... He still hasn't released what has come to be known as the "charity chapter" This person's name is Patrick Rothfuss. He pretty much ed into scumbag territory with that little stunt, and I would say he's probably pretty ashamed at himself, as he hasn't made a single video or livestream or social media post or live in person appearance since then...
