Purposely abandoning Discovery with a sentient Zora abroad feels like the cruelest ending possible. And it only makes sense if Craft ends up being of some supreme importance to the Star Trek universe. Leaving how Calypso happened an open ended question would have been fine. Establishing the narrative of stranding Zora for a thousand years was very unnecessary.
