See AllAfter Reading What Nomura Thinks About Cloud Loving Tifa Or Aerith, I Totally Agree With Him
There are a few points where I disagree with the author.
This article seems framed as an unbiased approach but the evidence to this is weak. The Author goes in detail to frame a more evident connection between Aerith and Cloud while only briefly addressing Tifa and Cloud.
To make matters more concerning, the author says there is no date sequence that has a kissing scene: but Tifa and Cloud have an evident and pointed kissing scene while Aerith and Cloud do not.
It's okay to take a neutral stance in the love triangle debate but, in order to do this, you have to give equal side fair representation.
Aerith does indeed bring out a side of Cloud he is otherwise hiding and there is a strong connection between the two. However, Tifa brings out an element of Cloud that extends beyond just the beginning of the game. Cloud knows he needs to protect her because of a promise they made when they were children but he doesn't really understand his own feelings for her and, what's more, Cloud subconsciously needs Tifa to validate him and this makes more sense later in the game.
Each character affects an aspect of Cloud's personality that is unique and it's very possible he loves both of them but, romantically, Cloud is not in the right state of mind; he's not stable and he won't be for some time.
So, like Nomura-san says, it's up to interpretation but a decent argument can be made for either side. It's just that the author doesn't properly give each side its due.
Zack’s Role In FF7 Rebirth Could Be Bad News For Cloud In Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3
I'm totally on board with the expanded Zack plotline. I hope P3 delivers on a good close to the remake story that leaves us all ultimately happy and content.
