See AllThis Horror Anthology Book Will Be A Surprising Stephen King First
This sounds like a fun idea. New stories in an established world - possibly involving some of the very well developed characters? I'm pre-ordering right now! Strangely, I've never given the ending a second thought, or criticized it before, but I agree that his short stories are better structured. With a few exceptions, I've really only enjoyed them, or the 1000-page epics. The Stand most of all; most likely because the length of story allows for great character building. I still feel like I know the protagonists, and even some of the others. There's stiff competition, and even now knowing the problem with the end, I still say it's probably his best work. Unfortunately, it's probably impossible to adapt satisfactorily. Unrelated, but his collaborations with Straub were excellent, as well.
