Alien Resurrection was actually much better than Alien 3. Alien Resurrection was actually pretty good for awhile, but really died in the second half. Alien 3 was a betrayal from the first scene of the classic that Cameron built in Aliens and all of its fans. It may be the worst franchise-destroying film of all time.

It's great news that the franchise is going back to the original idea of the franchise -- that the xenomorph is a pre-existing creature and not a bioweapon. The bioweapon thing took a lot of joy from the franchis and seemed to go against the basic premise of the franchise. It is called Alien, after all. The franchise has taken a lot of wrong turns since James Cameron's brilliant Aliens, so I can't say the bioweapon thing was the worst of them. But it was pretty bad, and I'm glad the franchise appears to finally be finding its footing again.
