Sands of Iwo Jima
A great film and a great performance. However, this was the period when Hollywood consistently denied Wayne an Oscar because his political views clashed with those of the people who rule/ruled Hollywood.

One aspect of the movie that I find particularly appealing is the wonderful cast of ing actors: Beulah Bondi, Frank Faylen, Ward Bond, Gloria Grahame, Sheldon Leonard, to name but a few. Their portrayal of the citizens of Bedford Falls complements the lives of the main characters perfectly and helps make the film the classic that it is.

I have watched Blood Alley numerous times and have always enjoyed it. It is fast-paced and with lots of action.
The reason it might get unfavorable reviews is because it was made at the height of the Cold War and is stridently anti-communist. The left-wing media would have planned it for that reason alone.
And Wayne's Karl Ehrlich role was in The Sea Chase, not The Searchers.
