I tried the first book, couldn't finish it. Unlikable characters, dark and ugly. Fine if that's your thing, but hear me out: try Harry Bosch in print. The tv series is a favorite. Good, flawed, relatable characters and generally excellent acting.

I enjoyed Will meeting his mother's family. The weird dad out of nowhere feels like running out of ideas, just like Angie's pregnancy. TV single professional women never seem to use contraception when the plot requires carelessness. She's a recovering alcoholic, are you kidding? Sex with a widowed doctor, and he doesn't either? Unrealistic. I smell sharks in the water. Jump!

I'm completely bored of Bailey and the adoption story line. It's a "show has jumped the shark" warning. Worse than the red-haired Master Criminal nonsense.

I agree Connor should return at some point. He's got potential.

It's not as much fun as Season 1. Missing the team actors. The stand-alone cases are interesting but once Colter sweet talks some gullible underling into letting him see the security videos one more time, we know how this will go. Lost its spark.
