See All9 Popular '80s & '90s Kids Books That Have Aged Poorly
Hoping this is a spoof article, but just in case... Judging the last by today's standards will always end in disaster, and frankly, authors, if you think this article will read well 20 years from now, you're sadly delusional. What is needed is not censorship but context. Societal norms and socially acceptable context are a product of the era and masking them is no solution. My niece will be voting for the first time soon my boss asked if I had told her who to vote for. I was horrified and said no, of course not. I have however always tried to teach her to understand the context of what she reads when deciding who she chooses to vote for. Same with literature. These themes were acceptable at the time of publication. Should this be perpetuated? Undoubtedly not . Should it be banned? In my opinion, also no.
