I thought there was an obvious, 'staring you in your face' opportunity to tie Nemesis in with the great TNG two-parter Unification. There Picard is on Romulus and gets embroiled in Romulan politics, even the Romulan Procurator (which Shinzon becomes in Nemesis). During his time there the Romulan authorities could have easily extracted some of his DNA to create Shinzon. It annoys me how Shinzon says to Picard, "the Romulans had somehow gained possession of your DNA and I was created" and Picard says to his senior staff he intends to find out how, but it never gets explained. Starfleet Command would never have continued negotiations until a proper explanation were found and it'd be very wrong of them to put Picard in that situation of dealing with an illegally and immorally created clone of his made to replace him and subvert the Federation. I found that all very sloppy on the part of the writers.

Also, Sela could and should have returned from Unification rather than the new character of Commander Donatra. I heard that Denise Crosbie suggested her return for this movie as well and it would have been a nice story arc relating back to the beginnings of TNG, to Tasha Yar and also Yesterday's Enterprise etc, especially as Nemesis was touted as the final journey of the TNG cast/crew. How lovely to have seen Sela turn good, assist Picard and crew and finally embrace her human side that she earlier had vehemently rejected.

Yeah, it's a big shame older Janeway did that very thing in Endgame when she went back to her younger self and changed several years of history to save Chakotay, Seven of Nine and 22 unnamed officers from dying and Tuvok form getting ill. ittedly, she did deal a crippling blow to the Borg also.

Where you say, "We also know that, in such a reality, Starfleet and the Enterprise-A would not have existed." it should be just simply "the Enterprise". No bl**dy A, B, C or D 😂. The A came 20 years later in ST III - The Search for Spock.

I really like Dr. Pulaski too but really liked Dr. Crusher also.

The article doesn't mention there are two mentions of her in TNG after she leaves - one in series 3 where Dr Crusher mentions a medical procedure of hers to Picard and later in series 6 when the Moriarty hologram refers to her indirectly.

Also, the article should have mentioned there was a nice nod to her after the Voyager finale - in Picard S3E9, when the fleet formation is taking place for Frontier Day, you can hear mention of the 'USS Pulaski' in the comm traffic.

I love the thought a ship was named after her. It also indicates she must have died by that point, as I doubt they'd name a ship after a living person, although I did read Terry Matalas was considering renamed the Titan-A 'Picard' rather than the 'Enterprise-G'.

I really don't get this widespread hatred of the E.

Picard S3 did the dirty on it. All Enterprises from the NX-01 to the newly christened G appear in some form or another either through an actual appearance (NX-01, the A, the D, the F, the G) or as models or displays - all the other Ents, however, the E is just seen unceremoniously sticking out of a box at Chateau Picard and only gets two direct mentions. The D however, gets a painting, models and an actual resurrection alongside mentions in nearly every episode. The E was never mentioned directly in DS9 or Voyager and we never saw it other than in three of the TNG movies. There's this running joke in LD about t Freeman hating it and when it does appear in LD its such an anticlimax. None of the characters geek out about it or get excited to see it like they are to see other starships e.g. the Titan. When Worf expresses love for it in Picard, Troi shuts him down. ittedly, it was not the best time to moan about the D's weaponry being inferior to the E's 😀 All other mentions are neutral or in the negative. In Picard S1 there's a blink and you'll miss it shot of it from FC in a holoimage Picard looks at and only one direct mention.

If I were Terry Matalas, I would have still had the D returning as it is tbf the more beloved Enterprise of the two, but I would have used that red door Jack Crusher kept seeing as being taken from Picard's memory of the red door to engineering on the E. In FC, he very cautiously heads there to save Data and to his surprise encounters the Borg Queen. The red door Jack kept seeing was a connection to the Borg, so would have tied up well. Picard and Riker's flashback conversation from 2381 when Riker's son is born was also around the time Picard left the E and became an iral, so after Picard toasts Riker on his new baby, Riker could have reciprocated with a toast to the E and Picard's promotion with Picard saying the E will surely be in safe hands under Worf.... Hmm... 😂

When DS9, Voyager, the Titan, the Phoenix and the (Sovereign class) Wayfayer rocked up and when Boimler and Mariner went on the original (Pike era) Enterprise in earlier episodes there was such a fuss and excitement especially on Boimlers' part. This is especially understandable when they boarded such vessels. We also saw a lot of attention given to the purple Enterprise D from another universe in a recent episode. That episode gave the impression the D was still the present Enterprise with no reference to the E at all. I also don't recall a single reference to the E throughout the 5 seasons.

Finally we got to see the E in this final episode, yet it was just spoken off as 'whatever', yet surely Boimler and also Tendi should surely be excited and geeking out by seeing this world-saving, hero flagship. How great it would have been to see Captain Worf in charge and coming to the aid of the Cerritos seen as the E was on route. e.g. we could have had Boimler or Mariner state at a desperate point when they nearly get destroyed, "There's another starship coming in... it's the Enterprise!" in tribute to when that was said when the E came to rescue of Worf when commanding the Defiant (First ). Also, in this episode, the Cerritos changes into a Sovereign Class at one point causing Captain Freeman to sigh and say something like, "I suppose it'll have to do" as though the Sovereign class was second rate. She didn't complain about any other change to the ship, even though the Sovereign class was one of the most advanced starships at the time so would have fared better than most others in their situation.

The E only got a blink and you'll miss it shot in Prodigy and only two direct mentions in Picard S3 with all the love being shown in over abundance for the D. I love the D and it is the more beloved of the two, understandably, but I think the E deserves more love than what modern Trek has given it.
