See AllI Feel Like I'm The Only One Who Watched These 10 Great TV Shows
What about Now And Again? A depressed, overweight man (John Goodman) stuck in a dead end job is struck by a subway train, with his brain subsequently being transplanted into the body of a superhuman (Eric Close) manufactured by a mad government scientist (Dennis Haysbert). In exchange for his new lease on life, he's forbidden to have any with his widow (Margaret Colin) and teenage daughter (Heather Matarazzaro) or anyone at all from his previous life. He's basically Superman at this point, minus actual flight abilities, so his adherence to the rules are not exactly followed to a tee. Watching the original promos I was initially unimpressed. Then I watched the pilot and never missed an episode of its 1 season run. It only got better as the season progressed, but was not renewed, with its time slot being given to the first seasons of the original CSI. I vowed to never watch CSI because it replaced one of the best shows ever, but I watched the pilot and stuck around for most of the series as well as Miami and NY. I couldn't get into Cyber though. My appreciation for Now And Again was only strengthened in 2003 when I was diagnosed with Epilepsy, giving me a more personal connection to the central character Michael Newman, formerly Wiseman, played by Eric Close and John Goodman.
