See AllBattlestar Galactica's Gaius Baltar Became One Of Sci-Fi's Greatest Characters, Then Star Trek Wasted The Same Actor
The article says, "His casting suggested that the role might carry the same dynamic energy and philosophical undertones Callis had embodied as Baltar."..... that's just silly....just because an actor played a certain type of character in one show does not in any way suggest him being cast in a role on a totally different show would be anywhere close to the same....why would you want it to be? Secondly comparing the 2 characters is ridiculous. He was a main character in a multi season arc in Battlestar......he had time to develop the character. In Picard, he was a minor character in a few episodes....no reason or need to develop that depth in that kinda of roll.
Lastly, Giving all the credit to the actor for the depth of Baltar as a character is very disrespectful to the writers of the show.....yes Callis was amazing in how he brought the role to life, but he couldn't have done that without the writers writing such a compelling character so well.
