They aren't upgrades. A good writer finally has Storm and is respecting the character. If you were a storm fan, you would know her history and recognize that she's been viciously underpowered by x writers. Al Ewing and Murewa actually understand her character, and are simply writer her to be exactly what she has and always should have been. Storm shouldn't be getting kicked and taken out of fights just so you can feel great.
